Probably 1969 in which case he's fifteen.
Brian says:
I look much cooler than I really was. Really, I was mostly up in my room reading science fiction.
I really did want to be cool though, but had no clue how to be. Chris' [older brother by 6 years] friends saw me when they were going off to Woodstock and my hair was starting to grow out and they said, "He looks cool, let's take him ."
So I asked my mom, but she said no.
