There is a
Walter Sidney Hyde, (Service Number: Z/3228 ) listed in
the National Archive under the Royal Naval Volunteer Service Records . I think you have to pay to see the detail but you can do the search here:

There is no record on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission register so hopefully that meant he survived the war.
