The Brooklyn Bridge in Monotone

The Brooklyn Bridge in Monotone
A friend requested that I post a stand-alone image of the Brooklyn Bridge from the photo collage I submitted to TSC this past week. He also requested that I try posting it as a B&W image. So, after a little trip to PicMonkey where I cropped it a little and changed it to B&W, here is the result.

I added two notes of the image in its original state as well as the processed version that I used in my collage. Let me know how the B&W version compares with the other two. Thanks so much! :-)

Very well done Valerie, such things as Bridges often as here look best in B&W, a friend always used B&W for his photographs of the many extremely long bridges in Japan.

Thanks so much, John. I have to say that I like how B&W accentuates the structural details of buildings and bridges :-)

Normally I am not a fan of B & W (it is wildly overused with nature where colour is life.. its over used because its "cool" to use it ... not because it actually works with a subject.)

BUT I DO feel it has a place with architecture. This is stunning !

I am a Bridgophile an a fan of top rate civil engineering... THIS is as Iconic as it comes Val.

Well Done to you... this is wonderful !

Thank you so very much, Pam! I too, favor color over B&W, but in certain cases, like if you wish to evoke a certain mood, or highlight architecture like the marvelous Brooklyn Bridge, it is a perfect medium :-)

The three versions are beautiful, Valerie.
I think that the black and white is the best one, but I also like the natural version very much.
Have a nice day, dear friend.

Nice work Val. The crop improves the composition and the mono processing makes the bridge structure stand out.

This is such an iconic picture. As I said before - I just love this bridge and in b/w it's very atmospheric

BW brings out the lines so well that it is very often first choice in architecture photos-it looks very good here (though I must say I also like your processing for the collage).
