My Week

My week was certainly a busy, traveled-filled one! My photos from the top left circling clockwise:

1. A very colorful vintage VW Bus seen at the annual "NYC Volkswagen Traffic Jam" classic VW show at Governors Island near Manhatten, NY. The event took place last Sunday, August 25th. We have participated in this show for the past three years.

2. A horse painted to look like the State flag of Maryland, USA. Yesterday, I helped run a booth at the Maryland State Fair for an equestrian therapeutic riding program I volunteer for. I was there literally all day! (edited using selective color).

3. A blue heron seen in a cove at Havre de Grace, MD during the mid-week. (edited using B&W).

4. The iconic Brooklyn Bridge captured "on the fly" as we were driving home from the "NYC Volkswagen Traffic Jam" classic car show last Sunday. (edited using white balance manipulation).

Whew, now I'm tired! I need a day of rest!

What a busy week Val ... love the image of the Brooklyn Bridge. Yes Collages can take so much time and for not enjoy doing them you came up with a good one. Now go get lots of R & R! :)

Thanks a lot, Lutz! I had high hopes of getting a wonderful shot of the bridge. I waited all year for that moment, but It's a bit hard to capture a straight shot of the Brooklyn Bridge when you are distracted by a malfunctioning GPS as you are about to cross under it, lol! :-D

At least I wasn't the one driving! ;-)

Der VW Bus kommt aus meiner Heimatstadt Hannover, gerade wird der neue T6 produziert.
Jedes Jahr, am 1. Mai, findet auf dem Messegelände das größte VW- Treffen statt. Ich wohne nur 1000m davon entfernt.

So that's what a horse of a different color looks like. Sadly, it reminds me of the story of the poor immigrant in 1938 who painted his horse to look like a zebra to increase sales. He was arrested and thrown into a mental hospital and never released. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridgewater_State_Hospital. Hopefully, times have changed.

I got to watch a talented young lady paint this horse over the course of a couple of hours. The horse was so calm and well behaved; he seemed almost to like it! She only painted one side of him. He made a great mascot for the state fair :-)

Very interesting story about the man painting his horse to look like a zebra. That wiki article was very interesting, too. It seems Bridgewater State Hospital was a very bad place.

Absolutely brilliant set of pictures. That VW van looks absolutely brilliant - how they managed to paint that horse all those colours is beyond me, it must be a very patient horse. The heron is a gorgeous picture, but my favourite of all time is the Brooklyn Bridge. I've always loved this bridge and I, for some reason or other, just feel very emotional when I see it.

Wow, thanks so much, Jenny! I had a different vision for how I wanted the bridge image to look, but had to settle for a quick snap as we rode under it. Having said that, there is something about it that intrigues me. I must say that the Brooklyn Bridge is a most impressive structure. I would love to take a walk across it someday :-)
