Just Like A Butterfly

Annette Hanshaw introduced “Just Like A Butterfly (That’s Caught In The Rain)” (Mort Dixon – Harry Woods) in Aril, 1927 with Irving Brodsky playing piano. Annette recorded under the names Ethel Bingham, Marion Lee, Janet Shaw and Lelia Sandford.

That year Vaughn De Leath supplied the vocal for the Ipana Troubadours on “Just Like A Butterfly (That’s Caught In The Rain)”. Actually, this is was the Sam Lanin Orchestra and their radio show was sponsored by Ipana Toothpaste. During the summer this version charted at number eight.
