Full moon on Halloween night. - Once in a Blue Moon.....

Full moon on Halloween night. - Once in a Blue Moon.....
Now, the moon has another significant moment in store for witches and non-witches alike: On Oct. 31 — that’s Halloween to you — humans in all time zones will be treated to a blue hunter’s moon. A blue moon occurs on the rare occasion when there is more than one full moon during a month. (It doesn’t actually look blue.)

A hunter’s moon follows a harvest moon (that was Oct. 2), and it theoretically signals a time to stockpile for winter.

The last time there was a full pizza-pie moon (a nontechnical term) in all time zones on All Saint’s Eve was in 1944. There was a full moon on Halloween in 2001, but it was only visible in the Central and Pacific time zones. The next full moon on Halloween that will be visible worldwide is expected in 2077, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.

Hi Christa ,
Thank you for visiting!
I'm happy that you had a good look!!
As I said to Steve above, I had been trying for this shot for a long time. I only wish there had been no mist, then I could have go the moon coming up over the horizon right next to the church.. But there was a bit of low cloud to spoil that idea..
Best Wishes, and keep safe!!

Thanks for your explanation Peter. There is often something that gets in the way. That's why I also sometimes take dozens of photos or more before I'm satisfied. The one you show here is really amazingly beautiful.

Hi Christa,
Your second visit is much appreciated. Thank you!
Let me be honest and open with you here... I took 40 pictures that evening as the moon rose..
The first ones were hazy due to the mist. This is one of the last ones..
Best Wishes, and keep safe!!

I would have thought you needed a longer lens than 82mm to get the moon looking so big, but you obviously know what you're doing! I wonder who is gazing out of that tower at that moon? Your photo begs a story. Really nice.

Hi Laura ,
Thank you so much for your very kind visit, and sorry that I missed it at the time (don't know why).
I'm happy that you had a good look!! The tower is the steeple of Ashwell church (but I just noticed that I forget to map it).. Perhaps the fact that it was a long way off, and the picture is cropped, helps the illusion..
Best Wishes, and keep safe!!
