Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Marie-claire GalletConsidering it dates from around 650BC, it is certainly a skill to be admired!

The sphinx like statue looks almost like new .. was it in a museum ?
Best wishes ... Steve
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to SteI did eventually find some information on it in the museum catalogue, now added above. However a good old book from the library contains a lot more background to the time and the sculpture.. 25th Dynasty, around 650BC. I'm sure we remember it well.
Best wishes
Peter
No doubt it was a great civilization!!
Yes the statue looks like new, but a beautiful shot!

I am happy that you like it. As I said to Steve, I did eventually find some good information in a book by Marjorie Caygill, plus the link above.

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneThank you very much!
I'm happy that you had a good look!!
I always find museums difficult, especially when the exhibit is in a glass case (like this one is).
I am very happy that you appreciated my efforts!
Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend,
Peter
