Peter_Private_Box club has replied to gezginruh clubThank you so much for a very quick visit to this picture. I am so pleased that we could enjoy it.
The Manchester Ship Canal railway used to run on the far side of the water, adjacent to the canal side (sort of in line with the top of the fence in the picture), but very little trace of it remains today.
A wonderful piece of industrial history, and a wonderful adventure!
Love Peter

Like your image Peter, the person helps the shot immensely,
HFF and a nice weekend.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubThank you! In itself the canal was a feat of engineering, designed to bring ocean going ships right into the port of Manchester. At one time, along with Panama and Suez, it ranked as one of the biggest three in the world.

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Herb Riddle clubThank you so much. Of course Manchester was a vital part of our industrial history, thanks to this canal and its engineering.
