Hospital de Maudes, Madrid

A very impressive building, I wonder if the facilities were as lavish or if it was done for show

Thank you, Peter. Completed in 1916 (it looks at least 50 years older to me). It was the first charitable hospital in Madrid not specifically linked to a religious foundation. Maybe the facilities weren't so great but I bet they they were very welcome nonetheless. Now they are government offices.

What a superb looking building Andy. You'd never think it was a hospital. Great picture.

A very stylish building, it's hard to imagine it was built as a hospital even if the use has changed.

I've never seen such a wonderful building that acts as a hospital! At first view I thought it was a cathedral....
