La Antorcha de la Amistad

This sculpture stands in the middle of a busy intersection, downtown San Antonio, Texas. It was a gift of the government of Mexico. It is 65 feet (20 m) tall and weighs 45 tons (40800 kg). It is the work of the sculptor Sebastian. The tower in the background is the Tower of the Americas, an observation-restaurant tower. The other two photos are of other lighted buildings along the riverwalk.

Bon Dimanche.
RHH club has replied to Karl Hartwig Schütz clubThat being said, both of your insets are marvelous too. You compose images masterfully, and by this point, it's wonderful that that sort of thing is natural--can you remember when you really had to think about that aspect of your photography? I can, but really, I've been composing all my life as you have so it was an easy understanding. In fact, it's probably as odd to you as it is to me when you notice a person who needs some guidance here...and we realize, "OH! This is something that doesn't just occur to lots of people? and aren't we lucky! In any event, both insets are wonderful. Great balance...the second inset is stellar with the light illuminating the underside of the bridge, the beautiful yellow lights of the building rising up to the sky... Finally, your third inset's subject I remarked upon yesterday--it's like a glowing castle in the sky.
What a show!! You know, Ron, we are both primarily nature photographers, as that's where our passion lies. But isn't it great fun to change the channel once in a while? I have so very much enjoyed my urban Vancouver Island (and my Provence France) photography because it lets me show myself that other kinds of photography are really cool too! :) AND that you have an easy aptitude towards it too! Your photography is just GREAT! :)
I am now continuing my reply to your post from ystrdy!
What a fun surprise to find that Neal enjoyed your spicy stew so much! He is Mr. Unpredictable but how nice of you to give him the chance to see if he liked your tasty fare! YAY! What a drag that he gets such icky food where he usually lives. Poor guy...but it is what it is, and how wonderful that you two found such a great place for him, even if the food isn't up to our standards of what "yummy" means! :)
LOL, Nancy is the Cracker Machine! Please have her watch the Nom Nom video so she understands how I (perhaps we?) picture her chowing on all of those crackers! :D LOL, the picture in my head is making me laugh! :) The funny thing is that if Steve makes a bread thing he's not happy with, I will happily eat it up...he won't touch it but I turn into the little Nibble Monster over the course of a few days until it's gone! Let us be Nom Noms together! :D
Incidentally, Steve DID go to Trader Joe's for that lovely Stilton of theirs, but they ALSO had a blue which was half the price and JUST as good if not better! *Janet bounces over to another tab to get a link*
OH NEATO!!! I wanted to show you a picture of the cheese but I've got something better!! This is a link to the Best Cheeses You Can Buy at TJ's. The Cave Blue is at the bottom (I'm sure it's named that to mimic Rogue Creamery's world-award-winning Cave Blue, but let's face it, if you tasted the RC's Cave Blue and then TJ's, you'd laugh...there really is a reason the RC cheese has the award for world's best blue!) but looks like we have a bunch of cheese to try! Fact is, TJ's has a fabulous assortment of cheeses there, and the prices are all over the map too. Heh, I just sent that link to Steve and he's like, "OOOOoooOOOOOO!!" It is nice to have a favorite's list to guide us, as their cheeses are MANY! :) Regarding the Cave Blue, we've been crumbling it into our salads and it's so DARN GOOD!! WOW!!! What a bargain too...$7/lb is ridiculously inexpensive for so fine a cheese! It's going to get the Ron Hanko "Dirty Sock" award!! :D
Heh, looks like your weather is as crazy as ours! From Feb to about May or so, the weather is just all over the map, isn't it? The PNW is tumultuous with crazy skies and anything from still to sideways hail and snow flurries, all in one day! Forecasts are only a dim idea! I do love to read about your weather though, it's fun to know how things are up there. Even though "talking about the weather" is something a lot of people do to have any sort of conversation, I think it's a very nice bit of our conversation! :) (just a slate-grey day here...nothing really to comment on!)
Wow...Neal had such short tendons when he was a baby!! Or, did he do this purposely? And you're right, I'm very light but the idea of tip toeing around for real? HAHAHAHAH...no. Can't help but picture the horror of ballerina's feet after years of abuse in toe shoes. :( Can you even IMAGINE leaping up and down on the tips of your toes countless thousands of times? Those poor people... :( Re Neal's distaste for walking: don't blame him a bit if it is hard and uncomfortable for him! Steve's sister had a pair of preemie twins, one of which has cerebral palsy. Rheese is badly toed-in and had many surgeries to help correct his malformed legs and pelvis. Even as an adult, he needs a motorized wheelchair to get around and prefers not to walk if he doesn't have to. Those poor fellows...it should make everyone remember very clearly how LUCKY each and every one of us able-bodied persons are that we can do whatever we want (within reason).
Ok, I'm out! BTW, I am currently playing another video game so my picture's aren't going to be posted as regularly as they should...I need a break sometimes! :D However, I'm going to keep up with my letters to you (and my regulars!) Have a GREAT day!! :)
