Fountain Paint Pots

Fountain Paint Pots
At the end of and across the road from Firehole Lake Drive is Fountain Paint Pots, the last of the geyser basins we will be visiting. From the parking area the boardwalk leads through an area of runoff and dead trees, killed by geothermal activity..

What a cool pair of pictures of these "tree skeletons". Each of them is equal in my eyes--lovely colors and tones in the main image, and in the extra image, I see the bleakness of these trees' death, being so unfortunate to grow in a place which would eventually kill them.

A fascinating sight , Ron! Once again it is astonishing with which strengths nature reinvents itself again and again, if it is not disturbed by people.
Do you possibly know whether the tree in front is inhabited by woodpeckers or other tree dwellers?

I don't know and didn't notice the hole. It would be a good place to raise one's young.

A dead tree forest. I wonder what happened to change the area from one in which trees grew.

Interesting scenery with so many rows of poor dead trees..I wonder if new ones will ever be able to grow back!
