Firehole Lake

Firehole Lake
Firehole Lake Drive, a short one-way road, is on the lower west side of Yellowstone National Park. At the far end of the road are three spring-fed lakes, this one, Firehole Lake, which drains into Black Warrior Lake and that into Hot Lake. The geysers here are Young Hopeful on the right and Artesia in the back.

We are in San Antonio, Texas, and visited the Alamo twice yesterday, the second time at night, and are leaving shortly to bike the mission trail, visiting missions Concepion, San Juan, San Jose, and Espada. It is a beautiful, sunny day here, about 70F (21C). We'll take some snacks along and will be gone all day.

These pictures are wonderful! All of that roiling water...YOIKS! I can smell the sulphur from here! :D The trio are super because they show a variety of areas which all look quite different, and yet are actively launching water into the air! Hey, I'm the first to admit that I love hot showers...in fact, Steve has to cool it down quite a bit if he steps in after me, heh...but those hot spring geysers...heh...TOO HOT FOR ME! :D

How wonderful that you had such a lovely, comfortable day. Perfect for your bike ride and I'm so glad you found some to rent...I'd have been so disappointed if I wasn't able to get them for this adventure. How awesome that you visited the Alamo in the daytime AND at night! The lighting, I'm sure, was fantastic! Can't wait to see your pictures! :)

And thank you for the visits to two of my oldies! So glad you've been enjoying a walk through some of the hikes we went on. Thank you for the help identifying that flower--no, I didn't know what it was called and I'm sure that I looked high and low to figure it out. And yet...I'm still not sure if you're correct...Pyrolas, it says, have heart-shaped leaves...but those are not. *does more looking around* But wait a second, you ARE RIGHT! CLEVER MAN!! The White-Veined Pyrola can appear in pink and grows in the right area, and the leaves are correct too...not all Pyrola's have heart-shaped leaves! THANK YOU RON!! :D YAY!!! Do you know how maddening it is to be forced to give a generic title to a flower or animal that I can't identify?! YAYYYYY!!! Thanks for the help, this one had me stumped!

LOL, I knew you'd chuckle when you learned why you were placed on the back burner! Heh, you have me frightened if it turns out that Nancy can outdo my door-stop-sized posts! LOL, I'll have to force you to tie her hands for me! :D Er...50-70 posts...A DAY...*BOGGLE*...*side-steps out of the room...RUNS FOR THE HILLS* :D I'm a goner for sure! :D Heh, you have a Nancy filter that is sometimes put into effect?...sounds distinctly familiar. I've said it before, if Nancy and Steve got into a conversation, you and I could go on an all day photo shoot and hike, come back and they'd still be on the first topic. BWAH HAH HAH HAH...I actually stopped talking as much as I used to because if I add to a conversation, it adds more fuel to the fire and oh dear...this quote I read once..."Silence is golden, that's why there isn't enough of it." You are right though, Steve means well too! :D

Ok I'll be answering your other post either later tonight or tomorrow! :)
