Lower Yellowstone Falls from Artist's Point

These photos were all taken from the South Rim Drive along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and from Artist's Point at the end of the drive. Artist's Point afford the most distant view of the Lower Falls as they drop into the canyon and is well named for its scenic view both of the falls and of the canyon. The photos were taken in May which is still winter in Yellowstone and in fact some of the park roads were not open yet in May.
These are the last photos I'll be posting of the canyon and of the falls. We'll be getting back on the lower loop of the main road and heading down the east side of the loop to Hayden Valley. Hayden Valley is one of the more scenic areas of the park and a good place to look for wildlife, especially bison and elk. We'll be following the Yellowstone River upriver from this point, therefore, through this peaceful valley..

RHH club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubI think that it is always cold in Yellowstone (:o)). When we have been there in September 2003, we didn't see snow (at least where we were) but it was so cold already !
