Black Dragon's Cauldron

Black Dragon's Cauldron is at the back of the Mud Volcano area of Yellowstone National Park and is reached by a short trail from the parking area. It is a large pot of seething gray mud and is a relatively new feature of the Yellowstone landscape. It first formed in 1948 and has moved south since then about 200 feet (60 meters), a good example of Yellowstone's ever-changing hydrothermal features.
The insets show the lower part of the Mud Volcano area with the trail to this feature leading off into the background, Sour Lake, which is next to Black Dragon's Mouth and which has been affected by its formation, and a feathered spectator photographed nearby,

NATURE et Biodiversité..!
Thank you foe the gift, Ron.
RHH club has replied to J. Gafarot clubHave a great new week.
Great pictures, of course. I do love the name of the place too, it certainly conjures up fanciful images, doesn't it? I can't decide which is my favorite picture, the main one or the one showing the trail. They're excellent, though I loved all the images of course!
LOVED your inclusion of a Canada Goose, esp since you commented on one of mine in your last letter! *high five* Aren't you fantastic! :D
Re: your comment left on my geese picture...
Thank you so much for your kind comments, as I've mentioned, it's really nice that you're taking the time to visit some of my older pictures. :) Glad you liked the geese, and since we've been traveling in the RV, I've learned just how COMMON Canada Geese are...they really are everywhere. To the point that I, too, stopped taking pictures of them for the most part. I did take some pictures though, and will probably process more Canada Geese images from our trips as I go along! One thing's for sure, Canada Geese are very photogenic!
Hope you've been able to get out, it's been really, REALLY COLD here and I haven't really been out much myself.
How did Thanksgiving turn out for you guys? Quiet can be nice, though Neal was disappointed...maybe you did something fun for him so he had more fun?
Ohhhhh, your turkey soup sounds so lovely! WE ADORE Tom Kha Gai and you may remember that Steve and I are Thai junkies! When we were not doing keto, we'd go to our favorite Thai restaurant and order like 10 things to bring home and consume over the next week. The person taking our order would always stare, dumbfounded, with the cautious advice, "You may not be able to eat all of this right now..." Hahahhaha, no kidding! :D Thai food = omg NOM! We will need to make some Thai dishes right away, we haven't had the flavors for a while! TOO LONG!!
LOLOL, your opinion of turkey mirror's Steve's though sadly, Steve only remembers the dry turkeys we've had and not the juicy, delicious ones! A shame, as I adore the flavor of turkey! Would have enjoyed a turkey for t-day but the duck turned out SO GOOD!!!
You wondered what we did to our duck...well, we didn't have any oranges in the house so ended up slathering lemon juice inside the cavity and then Steve went to town with seasoning. Cumin and cardomon inside, and all sorts of other herbs outside to compliment. Steve made an incredible gravy to go with--rich and savory--and I know I've left out some of the seasoning details as I didn't work on it but I will say that the result was INCREDIBLE!!! Both of us were in nirvana with that lovely duck! Had a second meal a couple of days ago, and there is enough for one more meal, which we are sure to love! Best thing: the duck was frozen to begin with but cooked up tasting like it was fresh, so now we will get a duck every once in a while because they are so wonderful and a fine departure from other poultry. :)
That was really nice of you to hand out most of your t-day food to your daughter and her family. That's how it was whenever we'd go to my dad's for holiday meals...how could he possibly eat a fraction of all that food?! Anyway, I hope that everyone is getting better from all the illness, what a bummer. Such the common situation in wintertime. I'm just glad I'm not at school, it's just the worst for getting sick, and no wonder where your daughter caught her bug. A tradeoff but gosh it must be nice to be a teacher!
Always glad to hear about your entertaining days with Neal. Fun to read the descriptions of the fun things you guys do together. He's lucky to have you guys, and vice-versa! I expect you learn so much from his different perspectives! The only sad thing about not being a parent is all the things we miss out because of the way kids see the world!
A wonderful report on the birds visiting the feeders! What a grand show they are. We haven't been putting out seed but the birds come by to check things out from time to time. Saw a flicker on the upstairs deck railing just yesterday. We are frequently banging on the walls to disturb the acorn woodpeckers from machine-gunning holes into ?somewhere? on the house's construction...one must ponder when they do that to the metal gutters...where on earth will acorns go if they manage to get through the metal?! SHEESH, crazy birds!!
My deep apologies for stagnating on my posts and replies. It's been very challenging in the past couple of weeks. *sad sigh* But finally it looks like things are on the mend. I wish things were easier...I just get so tired of it all, Ron...anyway, we are doing better...
Wonderful contrast!
Thanks also for the interesting, information, Ron!
