The Terraces

This is another and the last of the photos from Yellowstone National Park. It shows some of the detail from the terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs. The area in front is inactive, has a few plants starting to grow again and shows how quickly the deposits begin to disintegrate due to their softness (they can be crumbled by one's fingers). The back area is active and has water lying on the top, reflecting the light and clouds.
