Taken from the top of Gubałówka reached by the funicular, at the edge of the town.
Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, at the base of the Tatras Mountains. It’s a popular departure point for winter sports and summertime mountain climbing and hiking.
Portchester Castle

An early morning look at this splendid castle in Portsmouth from across the water near Port Solent.
A pleasant walk to catch the reflections was what I came for but it seems that a visit to the actual castle with its very interesting history is also a must.

Tatra Mountains vista

Taken from a horse-drawn wagon on its way through the Rybi Potok Valley and the famous Morskie Oko lake in the Tatra National Park, Poland. As can be seen low cloud obscured a lot of the mountain skyline but this peak stood out for me, just for a few seconds. Enjoy

Seen in Krakow main square. These wonderful horse-drawn carriages are nearly all operated by young ladies dressed in a particular style of that wonderful era of long ago. The many horses are just as beautiful with their coloured plumes and livery. The building in the background is the old 'Cloth House', now a fashionable market bedecked by cafe's and restaurants.
Enjoy.

Taken in the beutiful city of Krakow in Poland in the wonderful old city square. This was in fact an upper entrance to the old 'ClothHall', moments later it was to be fully occupied by a party of schoolchildren. Best viewed full screen.

The Spiral Tunnels of Big Hill, BC, Canada
|
|
|
|
Inspired to post this after seeing this: www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46854248 . Taken on my trip to the Canadian Rockies in 2016. This section of the railway consist of a series of tunnels blasted in the side of the mountains that create a gradual spiral accent or decent. See here that the same train is just entering the bottom tunnel and coming out on its way right from the top tunnel and this is just one spiral tunnel of many on the same 10 mile hill stretch.
See PiPs.

Built in the 15/16th century, King Henry IV of France declared that this church was the most beautiful in the Kingdom. Walking both outside and in, I must admit that he was probably right.

The Pont de Brotonne

Another fine bridge across the river Seine in Normandy. Situated between the cities of Le Havre and Rouen.
See PiP
The bridge built in 1977 is a cable-stayed bridge (specifically of the fan design), whose principal span reaches 320 metres and is made of prestressed concrete. It was considered an engineering feat and was the first bridge of this type in the world. Its height above the water is 50m and its full width is: 1,278 metres

Stone book carvings in Krakow house wall.

I like this. It sends out a message that literacy within books is timeless. Seen carved into an outer house wall in the medieval town centre of Krakow, Poland.
The titles shown here depict famous writers of the world as well as some famous books from this area.
I tried to find more information on this, but could not. Maybe a viewer might help.

Autumn is perhaps my favourite time of year for outdoor photography. I love the golden trees and the dappled sunlight as it burns through the early morning mist as demonstrated here.

Herbs garden birds, Robin
|

|
|
Two days in my garden, with an opportunity to snap our birds. Of course without the feeder, this would be a different story. This robin is a local character and along with at least one other, has been a frequent visitor all year. This capture is quite unusual because robins are more known to be ground feeders and indeed this is the case for ours too, but on occasion it has a go at getting the seeds as we see here. Enjoy PiPs too.

Two days in my garden, with an opportunity to snap our birds. Here we see (I think) one of our very young blackbirds, shortly to flee after a call from its parent. Birds often scavenge this area just below our seed and fat-ball feeders. Its as if the feeders themselves are the rich kids throwing scraps to the poor!

Two days in my garden, with an opportunity to snap our birds. Of course without the feeder, this would be a different story. Here we see some of the frequent visitors here, our Green finches (Carduelis chloris). However this is the first time that I have caught an obvious juvenile still with its chick-looks and feathers but well able to feed itself. Above, mummy is obviously the guide.

A rare bird in our garden and possibly the first occasion that I have caught it so sharp. We saw it first time during the heavy frost, looking for something to eat and it seems to have hung around since. Its quite unusual to see these in our gardens as they are normally woodland or farm residents. They are in fact protected in our country. Scientific name: Pyrrhula pyrrhula
ps, I have yet to see a female here.

A regular visitor to our garden, here we see a very young bird but normally we see lots of adults. In fact we see quite a lot of tits, including great tits, long-tailed tits and coal tits but not on these two days.
