Thanks LutzP, like you I too was impressed by this jagged peak. The view of this should have been better at the lake we were going to but by that time the cloud had dropped even further and so I never saw it again. As you say mono looked far better for this.

I was lucky in a way by seating myself up-front just behind the driver and in that way I did not have too many heads to shoot over. This was taken with a long lens. Glad you like this mono version.

Clouds make the peak look much more dramatic, mono suits very well.

Glad you approve my friend. I did look at this for a while, edited in different styles but as you say, this mono won out.

Love the fact that not only the view is very masterfully set up but the treatment increases the mood no end. one of these days...

Nice to see you again Steve. In the best conditions, ie golden hous, one could have taken a thousand photos along this valley, as it was I still managed a few, this being the best I think. Glad you like my treatment too. Looks like you want to re-visit an awful lot of places my friend.

Erhabenheit! Vor allem auf Schwarz werden die Bäume im Vordergrund unwichtig.

Hello Gisela and welcome here. I know what you mean about the trees importance but I felt that they gave some scale and interest too. In practice I could not get beyond the trees here to take otherwise and to miss them out on the photo would have simply meant cropping the photo down.

oh nein, Herbert, keinesfalls beschneiden!
Der Gegensatz zwischen den Bäumen im Vordergrund und dem, was ich mit Erhabenheit meine, gibt dem Bild eine große inhaltliche Tiefe.
Ich denke hierbei an den elenden Zustand dieses Waldes, seine Vergänglichkeit, die unbedeutend ist, wenn man die Mächtigkeit der Berge mit ihrem immer wiederkehrenden Wetter und den Himmel im Hintergrund sieht.

It looked like a fantastic area Andy, even with this low clouds when we were visiting. The high mountains can give the Alps a run for its money. Would be great to do a walking tour here but one has to watch for bear and wolf.
