HWW ~ Castell Bere

HWW ~ Castell Bere
A short drive inland from the seaside resort of Tywyn sits the ruins of Castle Bere upon an impressive hill. Now a sorry shadow of its former glory but still a joy to explore.

‘Castell y Bere is a Welsh castle near Llanfihangel-y-pennant in Gwynedd, Wales. Constructed by Llywelyn the Great in the 1220s, the stone castle was intended to maintain his authority over the local people and to defend the south-west part of the princedom of Gwynedd’

HWW, have a great day.

I had first seen a re-construction photo of how it must have been and so I was slightly sorry to see it so ruined. Nevertheless, it was most interesting and had great views out.

Best Wishes. Herb

That must have been wonderful! Such a wonderful surrounding, so much green around it. What a past!
