Stathes Lane.

Stathes Lane.
One of the two main streets here, with a few shops and hospitalities. This normally heaving street is very rarely as quite as this which was fortunate as I managed to get the cobbled road free of footfall and traffic. Time has done its damage here as in lots of similar villages, I remember many more shop fronts here in the 45+ years that I have been visiting, now turned into holiday homes or an artist getaway. Ah well, it could be worse at least we are not seeing concrete shopping centres -yet.

Around the corner, you come to the sea end of this lane, opposite the very distinctive 'Cob & Lobster' Inn. See PiP

Haha Rosa, Somewhat different from my recent Scottish landscapes. That pub is very busy during the summer days I know but a grand seat over the harbour with a drink in hand. Glad you liked it.

Great perspective with the curve in the background, allows us to imagine what will be hidden... the surprise is always fascinating in a walk

Hello again Judite. I love this cobble street and its ambiance. So glad you liked the way I captured it here. Many secrets around corners for sure and many an old sailors tale can be heard (or at least used to be heard) in the Cod & Lobster.

Gorgeous stone paving in the streets of this lovely village, Herb. Nothing ever stays completely unchanged and whomever took over the old shops seems to be doing a very good job at keeping the village in good repair and very pleasantly adorned. Beautiful compositions, as always, Herb!

Hi Annalia, glad you liked this. Staithes relies very much on its tourist trade nowadays and so making the streets like this matters, which is a benefit for most, I guess.

Very nicely composed Herb. I like the light on the buildings, but especially on the cobblestones. The flower displays are lovely and it's obvious that the residents take care of the street as it looks very well kept. A very attractive street and photo.

As you say, it is currently clear of the low class tourist (backwards baseball cap, etc etc) and the low class shops they go to...!
