Returning to this series from our Lake District visit in 2020, we are again on the banks of the beautiful lake of Wastwater. A spot that I have visited at least twice before, but no less wonderful for it. I am at the place where most casual visitors come to and then return after a photo, picnic and possible dip, but as you can see from my photos here, it deserves far more attention than that. On the far side below the pyramid of Great Gables is the village of Wasdale Head – a place of pilgrimage as the hiking start point of England highest mountain: Scafell Pike at 978m. One day I might even investigate those routes too. :)

You are right Andy. Without a doubt the favourite view of this lake. I had hope to get it from the very top of the scree laden mountain but one look and Eileen shook her head :)

I can't imagine that this water is ever warm but maybe the first 10-20 feet in the height of summer? There were however people swimming - made out of better stuff the Eileen and myself :) Glad you liked it.

Just lovely in the sunshine Herb. I like your composition too..........the rocks make great foreground interest and I love the clear water and the pebbles. The surrounding hills are beautiful. A super sky too!

A great narrative too................you have a great way with words and your enthusiasm for the area is obvious!
