The White Rainbow! (Fog Bow)

Dec 2012: We were astounded at this spot on the Göta Kanal here in Gothenburg when we saw this. If my wife had not seen it too, I might have thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. This is actually termed a 'fog-bow' too. - "In many cases when the droplets are very small, fog bows appear white, and are therefore sometimes called white rainbows"

Thank you Keith. My first sighting of such a thing (two in total now), it just demonstrates that it is always handy to have your camera ready. As you know, I love a bit of mist and so I was shooting around here anyway.

As promised George, here is my first ever fog-bow. A tiny chance when one sees one but to see two in a lifetime is a great experience. Hi Wally - we were only here in Gothenburg some hours and this frozen mist came down just as we were walking to the canal frontage. I was delighted with this incredible bow but took many other exciting shots as the mist receded again and the sun came down. Funny you should mention the word 'anchor' as one of my most successful shots of the day was an anchor taken just minutes after this.
