Rainbow at Brushes
A recent 'breath of fresh air' walk took us to a local set of reservoirs in the search for new autumn tree colours. However we were not in luck for such light on the trees.
At almost the highest point a look to our right showed us the makings of a beautiful rainbow with the blackest sky imaginable. Whilst hiding from the coming onslaught of rain behind a wall, I ran off a few quick snaps being careful not to get my lens wet. Here is the result of two of the photos melded for this panoramic capture. Notice here what I had at first thought of, as a very dirty photo of noise/dirt spots on the lens or sensor but ‘no’ the lens was clean and dry, as was my sensor. So what are those white spots and streaks over the colours of the bow itself? In fact, it seems that the bright sun to my back as I took these into the black skies, lit up the fast rain droplets and that is that what we are seeing. Strangely, moments after taking these, the rainbow, rain and dark skies reverted to beautiful blue skies again (until we reached the golden trees then it went dull - of course.)
Enjoy full size.
Have a great weekend. Herb
A Yorkshire 'Double Top!'
As the last heavy rainfall passes by, the next is only seconds away. It is always nice to see colours like this which also enhance the overall lighting of the scene. Taken near the tiny village of Long Preston in the Yorkshire Dales.
Nb In Yorkshire, 'Double Top' is a term used in the pub game of darts meaning 'double twenty'. It sits at the very centre top position of the dart-board circle. During the game, one would cry out "double top" meaning they were going to try to get a dart in the 'double twenty' slot.
Greetings from County Kerry
Our arrival here in Rossbeigh is heralded by a massive rainstorm which has its compensations as can be seen.
Fog Bow over Dovestones.
A walk in these most strange misty conditions allows me to capture a glimpse of this Fog Bow at my local walking area. This is made up of Ice Crystals reflecting light. I have only seen this once before and that was in a very cold Sweden . In the foreground we can see that the reservoir is extremely low after many months of drought conditions revealing long submerged tree stumps. PiP

‘E’- marks the spot
A double rainbow shows us where the treasures are hidden, just near the fence post with the letter ‘E’.
This was taken as part of a series, in pouring rain, a few hundred metres from our holiday cottage in Aberfoyle, Scotland. The clump of woods on the right side also highlights the tree of which my earlier sprint with the rainbow arch was taken too. (PiP)
HFF, have a great weekend.

Atlantic rainbow seat
As the wind and rain drives like a fast train towards me, the bright sun here just moments ago lights up the sky and sea with rainbows. The spot is a high headland above the Cornish cove of Chapel Porth.
HBM. Enjoy full screen and have a good week.
Rule Britannia!
Surely proof that God smiles on Britain!!!!....If only..... Sorry about this very dated, politically incorrect title. We British are the first to mock ourselves you know.
Joking apart, this is a rather nice chance capture of a wonderful rainbow over the town-hall with its Union flag flying high, of Skipton, in the Yorkshire Dales. Said to be the Gateway to the Dales!
Enjoy

Over the Rainbow
A super rainbow here in Aberfoye, captured at this place after a sprint in the pouring rain. In fact this was here for some time and displayed a stunning double at times too. The big central tree provides a nice anchor in my opinion. As is often the case with such conditions, a blast of super sunlight provided the perfect foreground colours.
Enjoy full screen.

Rainbow at Higher Swineshaw reservoir
Another chance here to see the exact same rainbow as I posted with a fence just a few days back. (see PiP) This time we see it with a wall instead of the wooden gated fence and unlike the other, this shows both ends too. Another two-photo stitch with unfortunately the left side being not as sharp as the right but I hope you will forgive me for posting it in despite of that.
Again a few rain drops highlighted as noise near the bow itself from the bright light behind me.
Enjoy full screen.
Happy Wednesday Wall
