Valle Crucis Abbey

Valle Crucis Abbey
A great place of history to wander around and soak in our heritage and with scenes like this too, how can we be disappointed.

Founded in 1201 by Madog ap Gruffydd Maelor, this was the last Cistercian monastery to be built in Wales. The abbey is believed to have housed up to about sixty brothers, 20 choir monks and 40 lay-members who would have carried out the day-to-day duties including agricultural work.In 1537, Valle Crucis was dissolved,

Hi Herb,

A wonderful shot of the old abbey, and a very nice interpretation. I had a photo from the exact same spot in the Pano gallery, but your is a lot nicer than mine was!

Best Wishes
Peter

Hi Nick, another of my shots to please your eye and interest your intellect. Such pictures as this really deserve more info I think. Pleased you think so too. Always a problem as to what and how much info to put here. Too much and the viewer does not bother with it.

Hello Nore and welcome. Its nice that these buildings still do exist even after so many years. This is looked after by CadW and one would normally pay to wander the well looked after grounds and buildings. The dark sky works well here behind the Abbey and in the water too, glad you like it. Please call again.

Thanks a lot Peter. Yes, so many of our best photos of all time were posted in dear old Pano. Some of mine, I have resurrected in other photo sites but most are still on there only. This particular spot was endearing and worked well for me. I have another posted on 500px (a link in a comment above). You might give me a link to your Pano shot, as it will be interesting to see if things have changed.
