And a Happy New Year to you too, Peter. Your comment made me go back and take another look at the original, of which this is only about a quarter off and indeed there is no reflection that I can make out. It was not a quick pan, as I originally thought and the white reflection is of a white buoy just above and out of frame here. All I can think of, is that it is something to do with the angle that I am to the bird, being straight on or slightly looking down, or -maybe as you say 'a vampire heron' :) Thanks for your great observation and feedback, Herb
