Liquid Amber

Liquid Amber
This has beern the first time I have so real Autumn colour to show. This year I leaf pruned the tree of all its leaves mid summer and let a second lot grow and kept the tree out of the blazing sun. The second crop of leaves are smaller and turn better colour as they are not as old as the first set of leaves.

the biggest shame is not all the leave are on the tree most have be stripped by the strong winds we have had.

Enjoy some WA colour like never before

Yes it is a tree that is no more than 300mm high one I started two years ago to get a tree the looses all it leaves and will give me some colour. I did not cut off all the leaves last year this is the first and it will not be the last. in an evergreen world a big change.

Great colours, Steve. There are a few deciduous trees (not native) around here and somewhat more up in the Southern Tablelands, though I think the winds have probably near finished them.

Its two thing that are the death of leaves in Australia the winds and the sun over summer they do not hold there leaves to get nice colour. I will be doing the very same next year as well just a shame I did not live further away from the coast. the colder in land would give even better colour. With the winds over night far less leaves on the tree and far more on the ground.
