"28" eating a Guava

17 Apr 2022 8 4 142
I came out to check if there was any more ripe fruit on the trees. I heard a very quiet noise of bits falling out of the tree and landing on the leaves below. it took a while to find the "28" sitting high up in the tree enjoying the White fleshed Guava.

Waking Up:- Borya Constricta Churchill

After the very long hot summer we have had good solid soaking rain in our area not just in the hills and spits like we have had for a few months. The plant is waking up after its long summer sleep as you can see the leaves forming rosettes again not closed tightly. With a bit more rain this should turn green if the plant does not get enough water it will simply hibernate some more.

Kookaburra Next Door

Part of learning a new house is who you share the area with. this is not the first time I have seen this bird when I get up early but the first time I got the camera and tried to capture on the D810 in QUIET mode. In the park next door we have a tree that a whole flock of Corellas roost each night, in the morning fly out just after first light. the size of the flock and the noise is staggering. I will find out what tree and sit in wait and hope not to be eaten by mozies........ This in part is why I own a camera thats not called a phone and matching lens.... Enjoy an early morning in Southlake's WA.

Borya Constricta Churchill - Life on the Rock

With all the rain that we have had this year these plants have grown so much. Contrast them from very first shot. This plant is called in WA the resurrection plant as it "dies" is summer heat to dry straw, In the rains of winter it comes alive as you see here. For the last three years this plant has been part of my bonsai collection and growing perfectly. each year I get to see flowers most people is Australia would never see at all. the plants are no more than 90mm high to the tops of the flowers There is hope for us all as well we will get our winter and life will flourish.

As I am going away for 4 days and the forecast is strong winds I thought best to get a photo before I left. I have left the tree to grow for 5 years its time to shape the branches rather than use wire I used sting pullies to place the branches in the right place. Sorry you miss out on the smell of the flowers so over powering. PIP is 2014

www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/threatened/publications/factsheet-carnabys-black-cockatoo-calyptorhynchus-latirostris I was out side try to make head or tail of plate Solving that does not work when this flock/group flew in. Using the 600mm lens the cut the flower off hold it in there foot and lick the flower stems much the same way we eat a sweet corn then throw the flower away the ground is littered with them

This has beern the first time I have so real Autumn colour to show. This year I leaf pruned the tree of all its leaves mid summer and let a second lot grow and kept the tree out of the blazing sun. The second crop of leaves are smaller and turn better colour as they are not as old as the first set of leaves. the biggest shame is not all the leave are on the tree most have be stripped by the strong winds we have had. Enjoy some WA colour like never before

After a long dry spell of summer for the second time the plants have woken up and start growing. As we have more rain coming I will add these to the bonsai stands to get watered regularly. The only thing I have done to these I have removed the fallen leaves from the plants this season.

After a long dry spell of summer for the second time the plants have woken up and start growing. As we have more rain coming I will add these to the bonsai stands to get watered regularly. The only thing I have done to these I have removed the fallen leaves from the plants this season that cover over the moss below. The plants have gone from closed up straw colour to an opened up rosette of orange then starts to go to green. Amazing small plants from the Wilds of WA.
