A Garden Orb spider made a wed between two tree at the front of our house. The web is close to 1m and was thankfully lite up by the light at the front of the house but to get the shot I had to turn the light out and turn down the flash just to lite the web.

That's a huge web. I'm not keen on spiders, but they are wonderful when you see what they can do.

You can guess what this would have felt if you walked straight into it. thankfully I saw it before any one else did and stopped it . As a tall person I have to walk with a stick in front of me in the bush to remove the webs, I have walked into plenty here and in NZ . its not a nice feeling and when you can feel the spider walking about the web on you is not nice why I choose a stick waved in front of me.

Quite stunning to look at none the less. All that work gone in the morning.

thank you it was an older shot and have not been lucky to capture one again or see one as good as this one.

Está bien conseguida sobre fondo negro, para que destaquen los hilos.

that was the idea of turning the flash down rather than full flash just the black of night. many thanks.

Well captured indeed, Steve. I was interested to see you used an FZ20 here, I still have one which I pull out and use occasionally.

That was my first digital camera all those years ago it was a good camera but I much prefer the Nikon as it is far more versatile. I gave the camera away once I bought a new camera my only keeper is my film camera I still have always thought of running a film through it but I do not see the point . the FZ20 was a very good camera to learn digital and I did enjoy it but not so good at night as the Nikon FX certainly is.

this spider is not big but the web most certainly is. its cousin the Golden Orb produces huge and strong enough to hold birds in it thankfully more up north than here.

you keep yourself safe we are enjoying our first taste of real freedom here with social distancing.
