  • Hooray first grass cut and cat photos

Another cold sunny day but the wind has gone so I decided on the first grass cut of the year. I mowed and strimmed the front both sides and it was not as much hard work as I feared, so that's stage one done. Stage two is the jungle out the back a much sterner task but that's for tomorrow. Stage three the hardest of all turning last years flower patch back into something that will take my wildflower seeds, that will take a few hours a day for a week or so. We are still getting overnight fro… (read more)

  • Lazy cats visit to the physio and little Luiz

Around 10:30 with the rain I mentioned it the morning blog easing away and a long time before lunch I needed a snack.I bit the bullet and tried the chocolate cornflakes and was pleasantly surprised, they are rather tasty.Max did suggest just eating them dry as a snack, sorry Max not to my taste but with milk on they are fine. It was around this time Sooty woke up looking for mischief and decided eating my runner was a good game,he soon tired of that and fell asleep half under it then after a whil… (read more)

  • The Rainbow Bridge

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we rem… (read more)

  • flowers, bad cat and an aircraft

An interesting morning here.firstly on my morning garden patrol with my faithful sidekick Sooty I spotted a few of these, looking on the wildflower site they seem to be Fairy foxglove. After breakfast and the sun starting to warm the place up I heard what sounded like a ripping scrunchy sound,I looked out of the window and there was Zazzles climbing up the new whirly line and tearing the cover in the process. Just as I was about to start lunch I heard the sound of a large aircraft,… (read more)

................... „Das Wenige was du tun kannst… (read more)

  • Cats and of course the impending storm

Ellen was having some Shredded Wheat for her supper last night while Sooty and Zazzles sat waiting for the left over milk. As Ellen ate away looking decidely gormless they spent their time watching closely and taking turns to wash each other. Here Sooty is the lucky one I spent some time the morning checking outside to make sure nothing in the garden is going to become airborne if we do get hit by the storm overnight.Latest estimates suggest the worst of the weather will pass to the s… (read more)

  • Shopping and cats

I made a quick trip to town today,I needed a large postal envelope and Christmas cards. The town is getting busier and with the market open every day more people are coming into the town centre instead of the one stop shop supermarket giants on the outskirts. The market stall holders were all smiling and a bit of barter and banter was going on.I picked up my cards 30 decent ones for £2:50. then to the post office next door through the covered arcade for my envelope,I was scouring the shelves lo… (read more)

  • Raindrops on web and cats go visiting

Two totally different subjects for this blog I have two photos for your evening entertainment. We had rain all day today so I didn't expect to get any photos until I spotted a spiders web on the Buddleia. I went for a closer look and there were loads of tiny raindrops clinging to it. I only managed one good shot because it was breezy so the web had a good sway on and most of the drops fell off, seems I was just in time.I thought it might be worth a night shot later, with no light pollution in… (read more)

  • Chilling out time and two cats

A quiet afternoon and restful evening after my earlier exertions. I watched a couple of matches a footie and a rugby and had a fish and chip dinner delivered piping hot from the chippy. A no cooking no washing up day.I like cooking but a do like a day off as well. This evening it was time to finish The Pickwick Papers by Dickens of course. I am going to read one of his short stories next The Haunted Man and The Ghost's Bargain. He wrote a host of short stories and while I have read all his… (read more)

  • Cat at play

I looked out of the window earlier and spotted Ginger down the bottom of the garden,at first glance he appeared to have caught some sort of creature and I was about to go to the rescue when I noticed his kill was in fact a leaf. He was really worrying it but it put up a good fight before Ginger tired of the game and wandered off. Looking at the mess out there it is hard to believe that for the last couple of years that area has been full of colour from wild flowers with blooms aplenty and bees… (read more)

  • catch up

I have a little good news on a damp cold day. The bridge giving us our only connection to the mainland is fully open again for the first time since June,no more restrictions to traffic or pedestrians. Godd news even if it comes a full month later than planned, nothing new there then. The latest survey showed 24,000 trips per day on the bridge so any delays causes mayhem. The other good news is the appearance of the first grey seal pup of the season down the southern part of the island. I caught… (read more)

  • Mamma Zora: 6 Settembre 1911 - 25 Maggio 2001

Carissima Mamma, innanzitutto Buon Compleanno!! (read more)

  • Catching up - slowly but surely!

    Patriotic butterfly

My July Bead Journal Project butterfly. He did end up a tad wonky, one side being a slight bit smaller and his body something of a tortured curve, but he is patriotic, as July butterfly should be:

  • Catching Up!

    Autumn Leaves butterfly

My September butterfly for the Bead Journal Project. I call it Autumn Leaves but, as my husband so kindly informed me, I put it on the wrong background. This butterfly has assumed camoflage!

  • Tschüß Noisy

    Noisy, yawning
