  • How to give your cat a pill

How To Give Your Cat A Pill,I came across this 2 or 3 years ago and just discovered it again Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and apply gentle pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process. Retrieve cat… (read more)

  • book conversion and cat mayhem

Yesterday after my stroll to the shops the day turned wet and cold and with no indoor projects at the moment I looked for something useful to pass the time. I decided on loading some books into my Kindle. The only thing is my books are in Epub or other files that Kindle can't read so they need converting. I selected a dozen or so from my library and a batch conversion in Calibre soon solved the problem. All I had to do was select the type of output file I wanted,in this case Mobi and click a but… (read more)

  • The return of the cat

Sooty has returned as I posted earlier. He is fit and well but was hungry. He has no signs of injury and apart from being rather scruffy he is fine. Lots of purrs and snuggling went on and when Zazzles came home they made a big fuss of each other until Sooty tired of it and swatted Zazzles as if to say “OK that's enough”After feeding up and coming for more cuddles for them both tit was off into action again for the fearless duo. They were away and over the wall and prancing around in the long gr… (read more)

  • A tale of two cats

This is how the cats spent some time today. Zazzles was on my knee purring a lot. Sooty decided on a little adventure. He climbed onto next door's extension. Then jumped on to a bedroom window for a better view.

  • A day in the life of 2 cats and damage report

After the early morning looked OK the rain and wind arrived and scuppered any plans of escape.Maybe tomorrow. The cats have had a grand time racing in and out ,I have a door adjacent to the main front door. It leads out from my little workshop to an alcove With the wind coming from the south west and this door facing east I can leave it open for the cats to have access to the kitchen and their food without causing a draught. The alcove provides shelter if they just want to watch the world go… (read more)

  • floor finished and new cat photos

With my legs and back fully rested it was back to the action today, not a lot just light work. I put the finishing touches to the kitchen floor and modified my fold down clothes maid by putting rubber stoppers on the metal legs to stop any scratching of the floor. My only other task wasn't really a task,I just sorted my photo folder out as it was starting to look untidy. Here are photos of the cats from my new Cats album Cats 2014 which is posted here. Sooty is not the petite little thing he w… (read more)

  • The blossom is almost out, and there is a new cat on the block!!!!!

A little visitor, who I thought was Pippin once.

Well I've noticed a little black cat who seems to think it's his garden now - and comes up most days and just relaxes. Apparently he belongs to one of my other neighbours, and he has two other siblings to play with, but he seems to be a loner, and comes up here on his own. Very pretty little thing. I recognise his blue collar, which with all the trees around, I worry about cats being strangled if caught on the branches. He seems to manage it okay though. Whilst sitting in my lounge, I… (read more)

  • Seeding wildflowers and cat's playground

I am seeding 15ft of the back border with the assorted wild flowers. I am taking a break now 10ft or so along not wanting to overdo the heavy work so soon after my session with the physio. The soil is still slightly damp and warm so it should be a good start for the seeds I hope. The patch in front of it that was my large wildflower patch is still holding water and I see little hope of it improving unless we get a long dry spell. This being the case I am tempted to hack it back taking care to… (read more)

  • A little colour and the cats pay a visit

A nice dry day for a trip to Iceland. I found some colour at last, not a lot but a sign of spring at last. I took the following snaps along the prom. The shopping was routine and I was back home in about an hour with nothing to do but wait for the delivery at 1 o'clock. The sun still shines and the cats are off on an adventure,or maybe they have gone to visit Janine and Luiz as they do most days now.She keeps feeding them so of course they are regulars. She took this snap from her window wit… (read more)

  • a cat wash

This innocent looking creature here indulging in his favorite pastime behaved very badly this morning. I usually wake up naturally around 6:30am but this morning I was awakened by Zazzles washing my face around 6:15. I didn't mind the time but starting my day covered in cat spit was not very nice

  • Update from up north and cat customs post

Not much weather wise to bother us yet unlike Wales a few days ago and Jenny's neck of the woods today and overnight. From what I have seen she should have missed the bad stuff. Here we have been having hail storms for the last 2 days and the Lake district fells have their white caps on. I braved the hail for a trip to town this morning and only got caught outside in one shower. Shopping done I returned home with my shopping glad to be in for a sit down and a coffee. This didn't happen until 2… (read more)

  • The snow has moved on and cats causing mayhem

The snow has gone for now at least. We only had a smattering here while 20 miles away on the A595 there were 14ft snow drifts and 70 motorists had to be rescued from a sudden blizzard and sheltered in a school hall overnight The cats have settled in just fine despite Ellen being away since early Friday morning on a pre arranged weekend trip to a friends. The moggies are no longer in and out constantly, checking they haven't been left I guess. At the moment they are both curled up asleep… (read more)

  • crazy cats

A fine start to the day promised well but mid morning a heavy shower appeared and drenched everything including two cats playing chase in the garden. Zazzles made a dash for the door but Sooty strolled in very casually and demanded to be dried. I think he gets wet just because he enjoys being dried. Zazzles on the other hand won't be dried at any price. The rain blew through and the sun came back between more threatening cloud and dried everything again. The ground was nice and soft after the r… (read more)

  • Games cats play

Of the many games the cats play one of their favourites is making tunnels in the runners and hiding toy mice in them or in Zazzles case pieces of string, bottle tops, foliage,Ellen's hair bands and lots more of his treasures. If one cat is in a tunnel and the other comes in it is a safe bet they will leap on to the tunnel and a game of chase starts. It is good fun for them but dangerous for the unwary walker. Zazzles is resting after stowing some of his his treasures

  • mad cats

The day dawned warm with a slight mist that soon lifted and left a pleasant morning with the promise of sun later. After a leisurely coffee, toast and honey breakfast watching the birds I checked on supplies needed and wandered to the shop. It was slow going because folk were starting out on the day's activities so plenty of chats were had along the way. The cats came to welcome me on my return of course and after decided my shopping was of no interest to them they wandered of into the back gard… (read more)

  • Just a catch up

My family of wood pigeons are looking to nest

Hiya folks, Thought I'd just write a small blog to let you know how's things are going on. I've had a nice quiet few days which was really necessary for me as I'd done such a lot the previous week. Anyway I've just been sewing my friend's quilt so nothing new there eh? Today the weather has been really quite pleasant - warm(ish) with sunny intervals. It was too cold though to sit down without some heat, even though the sun was streaming through the bay windows, so a nice coal fire is burn… (read more)

  • grass cut and jingle cats

Another bright morning as reported in my morning blog and as promised I cut and strimmed the grass, I had it all finished by 11. While mowing the back I spotted this bloom. Do you remember how I found that thick stemmed plant growing? I left it to see what it turned out to be,wasn't that lucky? another Sweet William,I now have three little clumps growing in different areas. The cats aren't as keen as the birds on the new feeder this is as near as they can get now, watching from the windowsi… (read more)
