Our local buzzard was flying across one of the fields opposite, and the nesting lapwings took exception to this overflight. Quite a few took off and climbed very rapidly (almost VTOL angles) to the same height and harried the buzzard until it left the vicinity. They then returned to base ...

yes this one had to deal with about 130 (mostly) Jackdaws, Rooks and some Carrion Crow

I see this sometimes over the fields at the back of the house, If I see the crows suddenly fly off on mass I always look out for the Buzzard, half the time one does make an appearance.

The Crows will soon move against a Buzzard just in case its going to eat something they want.

Back at Saint Day, Cornwall I spend ages watching the antics of the jackdaws on the neighbouring chapel roof. They will gang up on ANY bird that enters their territory.

Thanks for all the comments Andy. I have had a bit of luck with Buzzards and Kestrel in recent weeks but if I wanted a photo of a Jackdaw that would be easy. They seem to have increased in numbers every year and for example taking the photo of the Whooper Swans yesterday I estimated 120 Jackdaws in the fields I walked through !
