If my memory serves me right, this was originally a pale brown cardstock sheet and was dyed with two shades of ink.

Folded yapp edge variation. Named after the English 19th century bookseller William Yapp, these types of edges are usually seen in limp leather or vellum bindings. Often the folds overlap all three edges of the book, covering them partially.

A load of improptu borzoi sketches from few weeks ago. For what reason? For no reason. Ink and pencil.

Gilt Bible headband

One of the old headbands was lost so I made new ones by shaping pared leather around a core of thick cotton tape. I gilt them to fit the aesthetics of the original block.

Bible repair finished
|
|
A not-so-rare family Bible from 1890, which came to me in four pieces. The owner of this book placed most importance on having a functional Bible with its covers intact, and I was to decide the rest.
The size and style of this book made it more sensible to make a new cover instead of piecing the old parts together. The cover was constructed of thick, shaped boards on which I fashioned dyed reindeer leather. Two leather panels were cut out of the original cover boards and attached on the new ones to preserve the look.

Magazine binding
|
|
These volumes of two years' worth of magazines bound together were made for a customer who already had many others bound by another binder, so I tried to get them match the older books as best as I could.
Covered in chestnut imitation leather and natural white linen-cotton bookcloth.

Lovely illustrated Bible from 1890 that I am repairing. Not very old, but still interesting. Also it weighs 6-7 kilograms.
