Bible repair finished

A not-so-rare family Bible from 1890, which came to me in four pieces. The owner of this book placed most importance on having a functional Bible with its covers intact, and I was to decide the rest.

The size and style of this book made it more sensible to make a new cover instead of piecing the old parts together. The cover was constructed of thick, shaped boards on which I fashioned dyed reindeer leather. Two leather panels were cut out of the original cover boards and attached on the new ones to preserve the look.
