Crossing the Circle
I guess this will resonate with my European friends currently in a heatwave. An early morning view as our ship crossed the Arctic Circle on its way northward. The sphere on the island is the latitude marker.
Explored.
Circumstances unrelated to photography will limit my involvement on ipernity for some time. On that basis, my apologies if I do not respond to your comments or visit your images - I shall try to do so as far as possible.

Passing ships
Taken a little after sunrise and before my previous image, as the Hurtigruten ship "MV Nordkapp" passed by. Sorry, I can't ID the other red ship, but this is best viewed large.

Peace Cathedral
The 'Peace Cathedral' in Bodo was built in 1956 to replace a church destroyed (with most of Bodo) during WW2. While it may look unexciting in concrete (see PiP 1), the interior is quite attractive (Pip 2). My visit was enhanced by a lovely organ recital (sorry, I didn't get a shot of the organ). I also was intrigued by the large woven rugs on the walls (PiP 2).

A Troll for Fence Friday
It's been a while since I posted a street shot, but this Troll seen in Bodo was too hard to resist. Maybe you'd care to listen to this listen to this while having a HFF. Best wishes for the weekend too, everyone.

Auroras
When I'd taken auroral images in the Antarctic long ago, I used a tripod (I had only very slow film). This time I had high ISO and a tripod, but shooting from the deck of a moving ship meant I should have used an even faster shutter. Well, it adds an interesting effect! :-) More images in PiPs, taken at various times on the trip.

Snowy town
The interesting little town of Honningsvag, in the far north of Norway, where a sign notes that it is only 2100km from the North Pole.
