Coming past
Heading northward and passing a fishing boat, off the Norwegian coast. Best viewed large on black.
Arriving at Alesund
The town of Alesund was largely destroyed by a fire in 1904. It was promptly rebuilt, largely in Art Nouveau style, which makes it rather unique - and what a setting!
Alesund harbour
Our ship stopped long enough in Alesund to allow a stroll around the town, admiring the interesting buildings and the harbour. HFF and best wishes for the weekend, everyone.
Alfresco coffee time?
I could well imagine that this harbourside table and chairs in Alesund would be a great place for an alfresco coffee on the right day.

Alsesund streets
Some of the cobbled streets in Alesund. Of particular interest are the buildings with Art nouveau style and dated 1905. A major fire in 1904 destroyed much of the town and many buildings were rebuilt the following year in the current fashion, which I think looks great.
Alesund harbour again
Another view of Alesund harbour and the mountain overlooking the town. Another to view on black.
A cautionary HFF
The Kjeungskjaer lighthouse, warning mariners of hidden rocks, and watched by a group of keep photographers from the deck of the "MS Trollfjord" , the Hurtigruten ship on which we were travelling. All I can say is HFF and have a great weekend, everyone.

At this point I feel I should also note that unforeseen circumstances are likely to limit my involvement on ipernity for some time. On that basis, my apologies if I do not respond to your comments or visit your images - I shall try to do so as far as possible.
Isolated lighthouse
Norway has (and needs) many lighthouses along its coast. This is the Kjeungskjaer lighthouse, not too far from Trondheim. It now is automated, but I find myself trying to imagine the lifestyle of the former lightkeepers and their families, who were confined in places such as this for extended periods.
Nidaros Cathedral
I had time to walk around Trondheim and admired the Nidaros Cathedral (stitched image). See also PiP.
As noted with my previous image posting, circumstances unrelated to photography are likely to limit my involvement on ipernity for some time. On that basis, my apologies if I do not respond to your comments or visit your images - I shall try to do so as far as possible.
