Praia de Odeceixe

Odeceixe – coast
The west coast of the Algarve is called Costa Vicentina. It stretches from the small town of Odeceixe in the north to the cape "Cabo de São Vicente" in the southwest of the Algarve. The ocean surges with its full force against almost deserted beaches and spectacular cliffs. The Atlantic influence is much more noticeable on this coast than on the southern coast of the Algarve. On the barren, wind-swept cliffs mainly grow low shrubs and resistant rock roses. A strong wind sweeps across the barren high plateaus, and in winter also a lot of rain. So you have to share the grandiose nature with only a few others.
Since 1988, large parts of the Costa Vicentina are protected and it is now one of the most intact coastal regions in Europe.
And if you look exactly you will detect storks and its nest on the top of the left rock! Many birds from northern Europe spend the winter here on the west coast. So also the storcks.
