The old coastguard cottages Cuckmere Haven - 14.3.2016

The birds in and around the pond are Herring Gulls, I think. The owners of the four former coastguard cottages are trying to raise money to improve their sea defences as the Environment Agency has decided that the valley should not be artificially protected from the sea in future. Until recently the same shingle shifting procedures have been used here as at Seaford. Now defences can only be funded where there is a substantial community at risk.
