Lovely Peggy, I think we call this one Painted Lady, I get confused with this and small tortoiseshell.

Oh, Maurice, I have counted the spots .. the placement of them ... and at times Pam J and I have had a 'discussion ' ... both sitting with the same Kaufman Field Guide to Butterflies of North America ..

Most times we agree .. but, we are both hard-headed and will discuss it till the cows come home!

We have a Painted Lady, also .... Tortoise shell ... not seen .. at least yet....
