I had lot's of these over-wintering in my garden shed Güni. It was good to see them in the garden.

A wonderful series of close up images, but the main capture in the winner for me, Keith, as you say they are early this year in fact we evicted a couple from the house three or four weeks ago!

Thanks for your visit and these lovely comments Roger.............always appreciated. A lot of these were over-wintering in my shed.........and now they're mostly in the garden I think. I suspect the early warm spell we're having has woken them all up.

It seems to have positioned itself on the most vulnerable side of the sun, quickly beginning its predatory activity against aphids and mealybugs.
I still don't know how you get such wonderful backgrounds. Have a happy Sunday, my friend.

They're out very early Anton..........probably because we're having an unusually early warm spell of weather. I like to see them in the garden and they are welcome to eat and many aphids as they can find :-))

Getting the smooth backgrounds is all to do with using the largest aperture you can (but keeping the sharpness) and getting separation between the subject and the background. It's not always possible but it's fun trying!
