Long-head Coneflower, with Spider's Web

My contribution to the World Photography Day group. Taken in West Dean Gardens, in West Sussex. We usually visit these lovely gardens several times a year, but this was the first time we'd been this year for various reasons.
We set out in overcast and quite miserable conditions, hoping that the sun would come out and burn off the cloud cover, but it was not to be. I had planned some landscape shots, but the skies were grey and featureless, so I decided to concentrate on taking photos of the flowers instead.
This was one of my favourites as it was a flower I'd never seen before and I think it looks quite odd, but strangely beautiful. The spider's web was a bonus.
Thanks for looking and I hope you all had a successful WPD.

I'm impressed that you could shift your goal when the weather didn't cooperate. Lighting is obviously so important to photography - I like that you pay attention to that.
Did our event inspire you to chose the 19th to go to West Dean Gardens?
Happy World Photography Day!
(and thanks for your detailed description about you day in regards to our event)
Keith Burton club has replied to raingirl clubYes, we planned the visit specifically for WPD. We hadn't been out for a while, so this gave us the incentive we needed.
Glad you like the photo and my narrative and thanks for your kind comments.
raingirl club has replied to Keith Burton clubI've also been busy with the work of ipernity and forget to photograph. The event gets me to pay attention to photography also.
Keith Burton club has replied to raingirl clubThanks for all the work you did for WPD and also all your other hard work for IP. We probably don't say so often enough, but it's very much appreciated.
