Sunflower and Wildflower Fields (+PiPs)

Sunflower and Wildflower Fields (+PiPs)
I visited the sunflower and wildflower fields, which are part of a farm on Hayling Island, Hampshire.

I only stayed a couple hours as it was getting busier and busier with families and children which made getting photos with no one in quite difficult. Also the flowers were a little past their best, not helped by the extremely hot weather we've been having. Nevertheless, it was still quite enjoyable!

Please check out the PiPs for a couple of sunflower photos. Thanks for looking!

Ha, ha.......I wondered if anyone would notice the bathtub sign..........the fields are set up with various things for people to photograph their children in : a swing, an old tractor, hay bales etc and of course a bathtub!

You're right Ed............it's a huge place, with several acres devoted to sunflowers and wildflowers, plus fields of wheat and corn. There's also a large maze a café, a BBQ area, a bar and a small stage.

Glad you like the phots.......and thanks for dropping by!

A terrific main image, although the ground looks to be well trodden, Is this a farmer diversifying I wonder so many appear to have something to go with the farming these days,
Love the pips Sunflowers always look happy, Nice work Keith!

Keith Burton club has replied to Roger (Grisly) club
Thanks very much Roger.............yes, despite some recent rain it remains extremely dry. I believe you're right about diversifying............besides the sunflowers, they also have a large farm shop at a separate location a mile or so away, which is always busy. There is also a maze and in the evenings if you visit there is a BBQ area, a café, a bar, and a small stage for live music.

Glad you like the photo.........and thanks for dropping in!

Thank you so much Güni...........glad you like these images. The farm is quite a big business. The sunflowers are primarily grown for their oil. There are also acres for growing wheat and corn and also a large farm shop. You have to pay to get in and it is a very popular place for families in the summer.

Thanks for your visit and nice comments................have a good evening!

A peaceful scene and lovely PiPs! I can imagine the heat doesn't help the flowers- and when a thunderstorm comes they may be flattened.

Thank you very much Gudrun..............glad you like the photos. You're right about the heat and the thunderstorms...........but at least we're not having to endure wild fires like some places in Europe!

Schitterende opname en pip's, Keith. De volgende keer dat jij daar heen gaat, moet je wel jouw fiets afsluiten, anders moet je te voet naar huis. (LOL)

A really lovely example of a wild flower meadow. Enjoy it while you can, Keith. The folks who are in charge will soon cut it all down to make good hay, and the seeds will drop[ to the ground for next year.
Keith Burton club has replied to Amelia club
Thank you so much Amelia......I'm pleased you like it. Thanks for your visit and nicer comments.

Opening these fields to the public is an annual event here. The sunflowers are grown primarily for their seeds (for bird food) and the petasl from the wild flowers are dried and sold as confetti I think. The (sweetcorn) maze will of course be harvested to sell. Next year it will all be done again!

This year it cost £6 to visit and with the café, bar, BBQ etc it will no doubt be a nice little earner. A great example of farming diversification.

Ich mag solche Wildblumenfelder. Gut, dass mehr für die Insekten getan wird. Und für uns Fotografen ist es eine Fundgrube.
Eine schöne Aufnahme, Keith!
