I hope it is left alone to provide a natural habitat for all species of life that rely on decaying wood. As I have mentioned before, I don't recall seeing a stag beetle since I was knee-high to a grasshopper!
Keith Burton club has replied to Andy Rodker clubI built a log pile in my garden a couple of years ago in the hope of attracting Stag beetles. I've only seen one (last year), but based on this I'm hopeful for more. See: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/46760078/in/album/402979
Keith Burton club has replied to Gudrun clubIn Deutschland wird den Wäldern zuviel Holz entnommen. Wegen der Energiewende wird viel Holz verbrannt, um weniger fossile Brennstoffe zu verbrauchen. Aber man darf nicht nur eine Priorität setzen, sondern man muss die Natur in ihrer Gesamtheit respektieren.
