Cowdray House

Cowdray House (or Cowdray Ruins as it is now known) stands in the grounds of the Cowdray Estate, Midhurst, West Sussex and is the remains of one of England's most important Tudor houses. In 1793 it caught fire which destroyed most of the property. Except for work to make it safe it remained that way until March 2007 when it opened to the public after works funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, the Cowdray Estate and the local community. (information from the Cowdray Heritage website).
