Store House

The little store house seems to walk on the mushroom-like legs. I hope, it'll not walk away. :-))))

It has obviously been there for a long, long time. It must be wonderful to have such historic buildings.It's a charming place.

I like the look and colour of the old stones and bricks! Putting store houses on stilts is something you see all over the world but the mushroom shapes of the staddle stones are special! They look like little legs ready to walk off and remind me of Pratchett's "Luggage" ;-)

Glad you approve Gudrun.................genuine staddle stones (as opposed to the pre-cast contrete ones made nowadays for ornamental purposes), are worth an absolute fortune nowadays..!!

I'm not too familiar with Terry Pratchett's work (although I know of it and have read some of the Discworld stuff), but I've just looked up "luggage" and can see what you mean :-))

so THAT'S what Staddle Stones are - I always wondered. I love this - it's very endearing, and really does look as if the house is going to toddle off across the grass if you turn your back on it.....
