The Green

The Green
Another view from my new neighbourhood. The park is The Green. It seems not to be a municipal park, but I couldn't find out who is responsible for it. The building is the former Western Ontario Normal School (i. e., teachers' college), now the headquarters of the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario.

This photo shows the south or rear elevation of the building. The PiP at top left shows the front.

kiiti, Will S., Marco F. Delminho, David Slater (Spoddendale) and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

A very attractive building John..............especially in that beautiful sunshine. I like the glass extension to the front. Great framing through the trees and some lovely shadows in the foreground. I like the PiP too - it shows the brickwork off perfectly!

Have a good weekend my friend.

I finally got round to finding out why they were called normal schools. Supposedly they taught the norms of pedagogy. So a training schools, I guess. Some of my teachers did still seem to have gone to abnormal school, though.

Forecast high temperature today is 13C, Sarah. Couldn't wait, though. It was 3C when I went out to take photos. Terrific light.

I like the way the glass extension has been made to blend in with the shape of the original brick building. Nice photo John.

Yes, I was very impressed by that, too, David. It looks like a natural outgrowth rather than a modern piece that's just been tacked on. I don't know how appropriate it is for our climate, though.
