Had to check this out in the large version, ah, a black arm around a white shoulder. But what are they looking at? Intriguing.

Thanks, Sarah. I think they're watching a film of the streetcar loop at the subway station across the street.

Thanks, TLC. I liked the big one myself, but decided to let people decide for themselves.

I know I’m repetitive, but the built forms, the high contrasts, the looking into interior spaces at isolated figures do bring me back to Edward Hopper’s way of seeing the world. Though I’ve never seen a Hopper scene where the inner space includes part of the city.

Hopper seems to have shown reflections on glass only rarely, and never any that interfered or competed with the stream of light onto his subjects. I've probably mentioned this before, but his paintings seem to me to be all about light, and so it seemed to him, I think -- "Maybe I am not very human - what I wanted to do was to paint sunlight on the side of a house."

Another unconscious influence, probably. Photography has chiefly taught me who I'm copying.

'Arthur's Restaurant' has the interesting effect of drawing in the viewer's interest, finally settling on the couple in the reflective window.

Thank you very much, George. I'm always hoping to achieve that effect, so it's good to know when I've been successful.
