this photo by John FitzGerald

Bay Street, Toronto. Re-edit of a photo posted on Flickr way back when.

I like the big version (click the photo or type Z).

Maybe a bit more red would help.

E. Adam G., Berny, , Damir and 17 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thanks, George. They do work in twos and threes sometimes, but they mainly concentrate on getting to the ground as quickly as possible -- no hourly rates for them.

Window washer, dreadful trade.. I suppose they don't get any acrophobes applying for the job, though. The slanting lines of the building and the slight tilt the other way of the washer's lines give this a lot of motion in a delicate balance.

Not a job for the faint-hearted..!! They deserve every penny they get in my opinion.

Super shot John..................the window cleaner is positioned very nicely in the image!

I hope they get a tax break like the one bicycle couriers get here, George -- couriers can deduct the cost of extra food they have to eat to fuel their additional physical activity.

Thanks, Reiner. I don;t envy him, either. What you don't see here is how quickly he was working.

Thanks, Eve. The detail shows up better in the large view, I think.

he will not finish today !

John FitzGerald club has replied to Damir
You're probably right, Damir. The main problem is getting back to the top of the building. They come down at very high speed.
