Ruins in the evening sun - HFF

The gate of Fresnay Castle (top right in the collage) dates back to the 14th century and still stands with its two round towers flanked by embrasures. It leads to a small park with these ruines of the keep, the only remaining witness of the old castle from the 9th century. A little further from the ramparts, there is a nice view of the Sarthe.

RUINES AU SOLEIL DU SOIR. La poterne du château de Fresnay (en haut à droite dans le collage) date du XIVe siècle, elle est toujours debout avec ses deux tours rondes flanquées de meurtrières. Elle donne accès à un petit parc où l'on voit ces ruines du donjon, seul témoin qui subsiste de l'ancien château du IXe siècle. Plus loin depuis les remparts, une vue plongeante sur la rivière Sarthe.

RUINEN IN DER ABENDSONNE. Die Pforte der Burg Fresnay (oben rechts in der Collage) stammt aus dem 14. Jh. und steht noch immer mit ihren beiden Rundtürmen, die von Schiessscharten flankiert werden. Sie führt zu einem kleinen Park, in dem diese Ruinen des Wachturms stehen, den einzigen verbliebenen Zeugen der alten Burg aus dem 9. Jh. Etwas weiter von der Stadtmauer aus hat man einen schönen Blick auf den Fluss Sarthe.
