Land art: "LGV - NON" - seen on the slope of the Rhune mountain
Since 1924, the rack train makes it possible to reach the summit without effort. From the pass of St. Ignace, the famous cogwheel train climbs in 35 min. to the top of the Rhune. It crosses a wild nature and the road of the sheep and "pottoks", these small endemic wild horses living in freedom on the slopes of the mountain (see PiP's).

Thanks Peter. I was too lazy to go up there;-))) I took the train, which was a great experience. In terms of letters, yes, it could be something like that.

I only want to say: maybe, I mistakes, but I clearly see letters LGV above NON. And more above: E ZANT or some similar (perhaps it is just a part of word?).

Fantastic Serge, you're absolutely right! And now I also understand: LGV means "Ligne à Grande Vitesse" (High Speed Line), so it's a protest against this planned line through their landscape. And the letters above have probably the same meaning in Basque language. Good work, Serge!

A great series of pictures here to complement this landscape. The scarring of the landscape seems a bit drastic in this protest but perhaps not as much as acraileay line. Well done.
