Tagpfauenauge - Im prächtigen Hochzeitskleid - In a splendid wedding dress

Dieses Tagpfauenauge (Aglais io) fand ich heute bei kühler Lufttemperatur, aber schönem Sonnenschein an einem Waldrand auf und ab patroulierend, wartend auf einen Geschlechtspartner. Immer wieder landete es auf dem Boden, um Sonnenenergie (also Wärme) zu tanken. Man beachte auch hier die typische Stellung zur Sonne.
Tag-Pfauenaugen sind Tagfalter, deren Raupen Brennnesseln fressen. Eine Förderung dieser Schmetterlingsart ist also prinzipiell leicht möglich.

This European peacock (Aglais io) I found today patrolling up and down the edge of a forest in cool air temperature but beautiful sunshine, waiting for a sexual partner. Again and again it landed on the ground to recharge solar energy (i.e. warmth). Again, note the typical position in relation to the sun.
Day peacock butterflies are butterflies whose caterpillars eat nettle leaves. So in principle, it is easy to support this butterfly species.
