Bluthänfling: Meine Brust wird bald noch röter - Common linnet: My chest will soon be even more red

Im Bild einer der auffälligsten Finken, wenn man ihn überhaupt zu Gesicht bekommt: ein Bluthänfling-Männchen (Linaria cannabina), das von hoher Warte in einem Baum sein Lied schmettert. Später im Frühjahr, wenn die braunen Spitzen der Brustfedern abgerieben sind, zeigt sich erst die knallig rote Brust des Männchens. Das Weibchen des Bluthänflings ist unauffällig braun gefärbt. Männchen und Weibchen führen eine lebenslange monogame Brutehe.
Der Bluthänfling wurde früher gerne als Stubenvogel gehalten. Mittlerweile ist er eher selten und wird in der Roten Liste Deutschland als gefährdet eingestuft.

In the photo, one of the most striking finches, if you get to see it at all: a common linnet male (Linaria cannabina), belting out his song from a high vantage point in a tree. Later in spring, when the brown tips of the breast feathers have rubbed off, the male's bright red breast is first visible. The female linnet is inconspicuously brown in colour. Males and females have a lifelong monogamous breeding marriage.
The linnet used to be a popular pet bird. In the meantime, it is also rather rare in the wild and is classified as endangered in the German Red List.
